Concept Notes

Coffee is produced in over 50 developing countries across South America, Africa, and Asia and serves as a critical income source for more than 20–25 million families worldwide. The global coffee market is projected to grow from USD 522.57 billion in 2024 to USD 689.48 billion by 2029, with a CAGR of 5.70% over the forecast period (2024–2029).

Concept Notes

Despite the industry’s substantial value, coffee production benefits are unequally distributed. According to AFCA, Africa’s coffee exports were valued at over USD 3.6 billion in 2022, with Ethiopia leading at around USD 1.5 billion and Uganda following with nearly USD 813 million. In contrast, Germany, a non-producing country, generated approximately USD 6.85 billion from coffee-related activities.
